The Problem

Clogged Gutters Aren't Just an Annoyance

In Maine and New Hampshire, neglected gutters create problems that compound — especially through our freeze-thaw winters.

Foundation Damage

Overflowing gutters dump water directly at your foundation — the leading cause of basement flooding and structural damage.

Ice Dam Formation

Debris-packed gutters trap ice along your roofline in winter — a primary cause of ice dams that damage shingles and attics.

Fascia & Soffit Rot

Standing water in clogged gutters wicks into your fascia board and soffit — rotting the wood and loosening the gutter from the house.

Ladder Falls

Ladder falls are the #1 cause of DIY home maintenance injuries. Cleaning gutters twice a year means twice the risk, every year.

What We Carry

Four Types of Gutter Protection

We carry options for every budget and roof type. Our honest recommendation: MasterShield micromesh outperforms everything else in New England winters.

Englert

Englert MicroGuard®

Aluminum screen guard by Englert — the same manufacturer as our gutters. Keeps out large debris like leaves and twigs. A dependable, budget-friendly upgrade.

  • ✓ Budget-friendly
  • ✓ Englert-manufactured quality
  • ✓ Handles large debris well
  • — Fine debris & pine needles pass through
  • — May sag under heavy snow

Reverse Curve

Uses surface tension to channel water into the gutter while debris falls off the curved nose. No mesh to clog or maintain.

  • ✓ Solid cover, nothing to clog
  • ✓ Handles heavy rain flow
  • ✓ Low maintenance
  • — Can overshoot in heavy rain
  • — Not ideal for pine needles

Standard Micromesh

Generic aluminum-framed micromesh guard. A step up from basic screens — finer holes block more debris at a lower price point than premium systems.

  • ✓ Finer than screen guards
  • ✓ Blocks most leaves & debris
  • ✓ More affordable than MasterShield
  • — Pine needles may still pass
  • — No copper / no warranty

Why MasterShield Outperforms Everything Else

Most gutter guards are flat screens that sit at the wrong angle. MasterShield is engineered differently — and it's the only system proven to stop pine needles, a critical factor for New England homes surrounded by pines. Learn more at mastershield.com →

CopperCare™ MicroMesh

316 surgical-grade stainless steel mesh with 3 strips of 99.9% pure copper wire factory-woven in. The micro-openings are small enough to stop pine needles — a problem most other guards can't solve. Copper naturally breaks down algae, moss, and organic material so the mesh stays clear.

Pitched Installation — Follows Your Roof

Unlike flat guards that collect debris, MasterShield installs at your roof's pitch angle. Leaves and debris slide right off. No flat surface for snow to pack onto. Critical for New England winters.

HydroVortex™ Technology

Downward louvers integrated into the aluminum frame redirect water flow rather than relying on gravity alone — ensuring water enters the gutter even during heavy rainfall and not over the edge.

No-Clog Guarantee + Deductible Protection

MasterShield's warranty is the strongest in the industry: if your gutters ever clog and cause water damage, MasterShield will pay your insurance deductible up to $1,500. That's not just a warranty — it's insurance.

Common Questions

Do gutter covers really work in New England with all the leaves and pine needles?

Cheap flat screens don't hold up well here — pine needles and fine debris pass right through or pack on top. MasterShield is specifically designed for this: the pitched installation means debris slides off rather than accumulating, and the copper-infused mesh kills organic growth (moss, algae) that can otherwise plug fine mesh guards over time. It's the system we recommend for the Northeast.

How much do gutter covers cost?

Cost depends on linear footage, cover type, and the condition of your existing gutters. We carry several options to fit different needs and budgets — the right choice depends on your home, tree cover, and goals. Give us a call and we'll walk through the options and give you straightforward pricing.

Will gutter covers prevent ice dams?

Gutter covers help by keeping your gutters clear so water drains freely — clogged, debris-packed gutters are a major contributing factor to ice dam formation. MasterShield specifically is designed to resist ice and snow packing (rated for up to 4 feet of snow load), and its pitched design doesn't provide a flat ledge for ice to bond to. That said, if you have a serious ice dam problem, we also install heat tape — the two systems work well together.

Do you install covers on existing gutters, or do I need new gutters first?

We can install covers on most existing gutters that are in good condition. When we come out for the assessment, we'll check that your gutters are structurally sound, properly pitched, and securely attached. If repairs or re-pitching are needed, we'll let you know — it doesn't make sense to install covers on gutters that have other issues. We do both installation and covers, so we can handle everything in one visit.

What's the difference between MasterShield and products like LeafGuard or LeafFilter?

LeafGuard replaces your entire gutter with a curved hood design — it's expensive and requires ripping out gutters that may not need replacing. LeafFilter is a micromesh system that installs flat, which means debris can accumulate on top. MasterShield pitches with your roof, so debris slides off rather than sitting on the surface. The copper-infused mesh and ASTM certification also set it apart from most competitors. We're authorized dealers for MasterShield because we believe it's the right product for New England homes.
